How to Upgrade CentOS 6 from 6.8 ?

From the last couple of days trying to upgrade Centos 6 to centos 6.6 but when upgraded it update to the latest version. Can you anyone suggest me to resolve this. :huh:

When updating you want to specify that you want the 6.8 repository.

You can upgrade it from your hosting provider they can update you to cent os 6.8

It is recommended to upgrade to centos 7. may I know why you want to upgrade 6.8

Since 6.x is no longer providing on upgrade, it will best upgrade to centos 7 or centos 8.

CentOs 6 end of life is at nov/2020, time to move to centos 7 and wait for 8 to be more stable

Try to update is first clean all, second update glibc, yum, rpm and python packages and then update other packages like following:

yum clean all
yum update glibc* yum* rpm* python*
yum update

there is no point upgrading from Centos 6 to centos 6.6, you should upgrade to 7.x at least to receive any security and patch update from Centos.
